It has been announced that veteran broadcaster Sir Jimmy Savile has died in his home aged 84, just two days short of his 85th birthday.

I know that GOLD may still have episodes of his more recent Jim'll Fix It programme - but does anyone know if tapes of the original series are still available to broadcasters? Would be nice if someone like the BBC dug them up to bring to a wider audience.

"Now then, now then. How's about that, then?"

"This is the age......of the train."

"Clunk-click, every trip."

"a a a a a a a ahhhhhhhh. Welcome to Top of THE Pops".

I loved how he always put an emphasis on the word "THE" when he intro'd TOTP.

RIP Jimmy.

Thought he was a good decade older than that.

No doubt Sir Jim will now be at the Pearly Gates with St Peter saying to him "now then, now then, as it 'appens, I'll give you two points for the name and a bonus point for the correct title - without the brackets!"

A character, a legend, a one-off. RIP Sir Jimmy.

Actually, James, I remember being very upset as a kid, when the famous chair he sat in (c/w cigar drawers and all sorts of hidden compartments) was changed after the first couple of series.

IIRC, his chair was red initially, and then changed to blue after a few years??? It may have been the other way around, but in any case, I was very upset when it was changed. Not too sure why.

Jim'll Fix It was "must see" Saturday viewing back in the day........................

As it happens, at number 22 in the Hit Parade right over there, we have Showaddywaddy !!!

On a serious note, when is the next Jimmy episode of TOTP 1976?

Legend. Absolute legend.

I remember vaguely seeing Sir Jimmy when the Tour De France came to England in 1994. What a great bloke he was. He will be sorely missed.

Does anyone remember the last ever Jim'll Fix It? It was a one-off broadcast seperately from the normal series and was presented by Andi Peters, weirdly, with Jim as a guest. He seemed to becoming more and more eccentric at that point which I guess it why Andi was brought in, but it still seemed a little odd to end like that.

There's a good Jim'll Fix It/ TV presentation link here - but for me for some reason it cuts out half way through... http://ppfiles.meldrum.co.uk/files/jimfixit.ra

And here's the words:

Because we care....

Your letter was only the start of it,
One letter and now you're a part of it,
Now you've done it, Jim has fixed for it you, and you and you.

There must be something that you always want to do,
The one thing that you always wanted to,
Now you've done it, Jim has fixed it for you, and you and you and you

Bah-bah-bah
Bah-bah-bah-bah-bah-bah-bah

Bah-bah-bah-bah-bah-bah-bah
Bah-Bah-Bah

Jim has fixed it for you, and you and you

Bah-bah-bah
Bah-bah-bah-bah-bah-bah-bah

Bah-bah-bah-bah-bah-bah-bah
Bah-Bah-Bah

Jim has fixed it for you, and you and yound you-ou-ou
