The logo for the Olympic Games in Rio 2016 will apparently be revealed tonight. Various times for the reveal have been given, but 10 p.m. Rio time is the most recent. I'm not certain what that would be in GMT, but I guess it will be some time after midnight.

With the new logo comes a new website:

Apparently, the Olympic Committee had hoped for something more traditional after the London 2012 and Sochi 2014 logos, which were perhaps a bit to innovative. It shows.

The IOC (iirc) still has the final veto on logos. They let the LOCOG use the shattered glass logo, as they convinced them it was so different and would be 'envolving' in the run up to the games it was allowed as in terms of logos it hadn't been tried before.

I actally like the Rio 2016 logo. It's obvious it's three human figures holding hands. Would have prefered all the colours of the olympic rings used - but it is better and more 'traditional' than the 2012 logo (even though I understand the reasons why none of the iconic London landmarks are not featured in the offical logo)

It's a bit safe really, and hence a bit dull. Looked great in 3D IMO, but awful in 2D. And judging by this morning's news, zero interest in the British media in it.
