I'm assuming tonight's continuity was similar to the one used on Monday. A still Gold logo with calmer music played with a generic "you're watching Gold" played over it, and then what seemed to be a separately recorded announcement:

"Gold is very sad to hear of the passing of Rik Mayall. Here he is in one of his most fondly remembered and iconic roles as the timeless Lord Flashheart in Blackadder Goes Forth".

I recorded Monday's showings and that was also how the announcements went out then.

The Young Ones appears to be Comedy Connection's episode on the programme, rather than an episode from the series. I wondered how long it would take BBC to have a Rik Mayall tribute/themed night.

Has there been a documentary tribute to Rik yet?

Not really telly presentation related but it's strange as I always considered Rik the British version of Robin Williams, and now we've lost them both in such a short space of time.

I heard something about a tribute in September, but I don't know if that's a memorial thing or something on television. Then again, I remember BBC Two marking Mel Smith's passing with a repeat of Alas Smith and Jones, and stating there'd be a special tribute to him later in the year, and that never showed up until Christmas after he died in July.
