Are C4 mentioning on air that 'these shows were recorded before Richard's illness' ?

I haven't been watching everyday, but AFAIK nothing has been mentioned about it. They'll have to make an announcement soon, as he isn't out of Hospital yet and then time is needed until he can get back to work properly.

No announcement about being pre-recorded has been made, but I don't think there would be unless a reference is made in the programme that could offend.

The only thing I've seen of it on C4 is a couple of updates on Richard and Judy.

Channel 4 have a lot of special Countdown episodes, which they have shown in place of cricket before... so I suppose these could be rolled out it they did run out of episodes.

True, I think they have at least three more (with Alison Heard, not Susie Dent, in Dictionary corner, and a Yorkshire endcap) as-yet unscreened.

If they do repeat old shows, I wonder if they would show editions in the days when other hosteses took Carol's letters role.

Back to the board game which I mentioned. Here's an original verision of it shown on e-bay with the picture I mentioned on my last therad.

There was also a Commodore 64 game with a picture of a younger Carol Vorderman on the front of the game cassette cover and the 80's set again with Richard of the left side of the clock

Reminds me of that 'Dead Ringers' sketch, where they recorded the Countdown 2003 Xmas special in 1987! ('So I don't appear to age quickly(I think!))

Ok, What if it was Carol who was ill and Richard was back on his feet. Would the show still go on with Richard doing the letters and numbers as well as working out the maths. I wonder if he was good at school?

I don't think they would have the main presenter putting up the cards under any circumstances. I suppose they could do what they did for the 1997 christmas special, and have Susie Dent put up the letters. Damian Eadie could do Dictionary Corner. (Or if they had enough time to arrange it, they could fly Kathy Hytner in to do the cards!)

Is he still in a critical condition?

Here are some more choicable replacements

Noel Edmonds, A chance for him to get back on TV again

Bruse Forsyth, He would liven things up and he might bring in a sexy young dolly dealer to do Carol's role

Kelly Brook, After Celbrity Love Island finshes, She can front the show and stir up to have a bonk with Giles B

Jodie Marsh, Same as above

Phillipa Forrester, Someone once said she had good brains like Carol

Michael Fish, Now that he's retired from the weather, He could have a chance

Ant and Dec, Two for the price of one. One hosts and the other does the letters and numbers

My Granny, Even she might be better than Richard and my newly born sister could do Carol's role with Pope Benidat XVI in the dictoery corner

I have just read an story on him in the Sun today and says that he is "very frail" but manages to come out of bed and sit on a chair. It may will be a while yet before he comes back to his place under the big clock
