I agree with that... but...

If he dies who'll do the show. Can Carol Vorderman do both roles

... is about as insensitive as you can get, and highly inappropriate.

He's only 61. I'm sure he'll fight his ilness. Get well soon Mr Whiteley.

Might as well talk about TV presentation in some way as it is what this forum is about. Anyone noticed how they said it was a spokesmen for "Yorkshire Television" It's still nice to hear that name is still about, even if off-screen only.

Wait until he's well again, then ask.. he's gonna die one day, and he's not exactly young is he.. but at the moment everyone who usually says he's a bore and unfunny is pretending they like him.

Not the most sensitive of titles - but it is a worthy question, though it's wise to remember his condition is stable.

As for Countdown, if Richard did have to pull out due to illness (or something worse) I think William G Stewart would almost certainly do the job on a short term basis as he is a regular host for Countdown specials.

Carol said in a documentary a few years ago she wouldn't do it if Richard wasn't hosting. To be honest though, I could see Channel 4 pulling it if Richard had to leave.
