If Richard Whiteley dies, Will Countdown still be on?

From the fact that guest presenters will be used, it seems that the answer to the original question posed in the thread title is "yes" - Countdown will continue after Richard Whiteley.

I think it's best if the legendrey Crazy Frog did Richard's role. He might liven up the grannies viewing and maybe they should play Axel F during the clock music as well as being the new theme tune and what's more, They could have Sweetie Chick doinjg Carol's role and Nessie the Dragon in the dictorary corner

That's an old DigitalSpy story. They haven't caught up with the latest developments yet, which are that C4 this afternoon announced the absolutely definite final roster:

Richard Digance, Lesley Garrett, Esther Rantzen, Barry Norman, Tim Rice, Nicholas Owen and Jennie Bond.

Nobody apart from me appears to have noticed yet, though, so I get to scoop EVERYONE!!! I'm great, me.
