Nothing on Channel 4 at the 10pm junction.

This is pretty awful considering the guy has served the station for 23 years -- in fact he was the first face on Channel 4 in 1982. He always mentioned C4's birthday as well. A poor response to the death of a loyal presenter.

Well God forbid that anything should get in the way of Big Brother. Evil or Very Mad

Well be fair Simon. It's not a Tsunami warranting breaking into the show. The dieal opportunity would be before the next programme but said programme was a violent film all about murder

"We bring you the sad news of Richard's death, now lets enjoy a film about killing". doesn't work.

Neither of which suggest I thought that Richard Whiteley was "inconsiderate" for dying after Channel 4 News had finished! Rolling Eyes

I don't know how to reply to that without insulting you so I'll be kind and stay silent.

Oh please! You admitted you misunderstood my posting. Maybe I should have been clearer, but let's just leave it at that shall we? This is hardly the thread for an argument.

I don't know whether to shake my fist at Channel 4 right now or not! I think it would have been appropriate for a news report before the film From Hell..

Why? of course it's sad news. But at the end of the day he presented a tea time show. Rolling Eyes he's not royalty, his death doesn't really warrant a news flash. I'm sure Ch4 will pay their respects..but it doesn't have to be with immediate effect.

He had been on TV for more then 30 years in the YTV region, I think many people are going to be upset.

Have to say the ITV News Channel are doing a good job now - getting a lot of tributes by phone and giving Richard the sort of coverage he deserves.

Maybe, but Lloyd Bracey has been bumbling and stumbling all over the place.

BBC WM's Ed Doolan did an interview with him in the last 18 months, as part of his 'Other Side Of ' series, so I expect that to be repeated on WM at some point !

Confused: I think having an obit and then saying next on Channel 4 'From Hell' would have been quite inappropriate.
I'd rather see them putting out a special package that they have spent time putting together than having the continuity announcer mention it in the break between Big Brother and From Hell.

The BBC News website have a full obit up and the Channel 4 website still have nothing!

Their initial reaction was a bit of a mess, but they're doing a decent job as the news channel with the least resources. They're stumbling a bit because they're trying to bring continuing coverage of a story which has just been announced. The BBC and Sky seem much slicker because they're sticking to their original pre-recorded packages.

They should have changed the film as a mark of respect.

I am sure Channel 4 will have a tribute to the person who was the first face on Channel 4, and also on Yorkshire Television tomorrow.
