This is very very depressing news! Crying or Very sad RIP Richard.

I was only watching a Channel 4 'faces' trailer the other night and it was 'How would you like to be remembered when you die'. Richard had the last line.."as the face that launched Channel 4".

I seen that exact same clip the other night aswell. I hope they remember not to show it for a while.

This is very sad news indeed, I can't believe he's dead, he was such a great man and a true Bradfordian, he will be sadly missed. Sad

I think it's quite a tribute. I hate the ideaof when someone dies anyhting with them is cancelled "as a mark of respect". I view it as attempting to erase them from history. Celebrate their life don't just mourn all the time.

News 24 just put it in the middle of their bottom of the hour news summary, not flagging it up as breaking news, just treating it as yet another news story for some reason.

well it's quite distasteful to flag a person's death from, essentially, old age as BREAKING NEWS. Personally I wouldn't even use the full height aston.

I'm not sure you can say he died of old age! And he's a celebrity, so of course it's "Breaking News". Rightly or wrongly, that's how it'll be treated.

Er, I think you're over-reacting, being over-sensitive and misunderstanding my post.

More the third - the original post reasd as "but the bulletin has finished" not "would ITN have enough C4 staff to do one"

Neither of which suggest I thought that Richard Whiteley was "inconsiderate" for dying after Channel 4 News had finished! Rolling Eyes

This is pretty awful considering the guy has served the station for 23 years -- in fact he was the first face on Channel 4 in 1982. He always mentioned C4's birthday as well. A poor response to the death of a loyal presenter.

Yes, he did come across as the sort of person everyone would get on with.
