He said at the start "the final everyone's talking about". How apt.

Well just a usual final on Countdown but it was quite emotional at the end when he said that it will be back on Monday.

The last few minutes of the tribute programme were very emotional indeed especially when the lights in the studio faded out. RIP Richard.

Nice touch that today's chosen logo for the front page of the forums is the Yorkshire chevron.

I'll watch the full version of Richard Whiteley - Televison Man again to see what they cut out for the Channel 4 showing. The ending was definally different.

Compare the end of the one shown on YTV last night (on the left) with the one shown on Channel 4 today (on the right)..

On the uncut version, they did make jokes about how Richard would die, and Channel 4 must have cut them out for obvious reasons.

To me when the studio lights went out. It meant the end of Countdown as well as RIP Richard. Still, I really enjoyed the tribute. Some great clips in there.

Indeed, an excellent tribute. Good to see all those old sets again, and some great bloopers, too. I particularly liked the one where he says they'll be back in January '1966' rather than 1996!

In the final, I actually managed to get an 8 letter word for the first time- 'RADIATES'! It took me long enough to get sixes, and even then that was only back in November last year (I think it was the first, anyway). First time I solved the numbers round was in 2000, making 908 doing something like (9 x 100) + 2 x 4. Easy, but I was still pleased...I even video recorded the moment for posterity!

Ian White wearing a black tie was a nice and humble touch - it illustated perfectly the affection and respect Richard had from all broadcasters in Yorkshire, BBC or YTV.

Harry Gratian wore a black tie on Monday as well, not even the Queen Mum got that!

The tribute programme was excellent indeed, a good tribute to Richard. It was slightly emotional to see the Countdown set being 'unlit' followed by a picture of Richard. Even if Countdown does return, it won't be the same without him.

I missed it unfortunately, not going to be repeated I presume? - not the kind of prog to be repeated really...

seeing the clock whizz round from 30-60 was rather fab. I've always wondered if there are segmented lights in that half of the clock.
