I just feel that there are millions of cards, e-mails, letters and websites like that being submitted to the family and I don't see the point in another one. Of course i'm very upset by Richard's unfortunate death, but I don't see the point in another site.

When you try and do something nice for people who are saddened by the death of a person loved by millions, you don't (and quite rightly shouldn't) expect a load of criticism. Whatever you think of it, this thread is most certainly not the place to start criticising other websites.

If you have to moan about the site, do it privately where you're not going to cause offence to others, or at the very least, do it here please.

His wife must be devastated, Countdown won't be the same without him. Crying or Very sad
May he RIP.

we've got diana to thank for all this pointless books condolence malarky.

her death sparked what can only be described as group hysteria. the same seems to be happening here.

the sheer amount of pathetic things written in this thread make me wonder if a much larger percentage of this forum suffers from aspergers' syndrome. sentiments such as 'i watched countdown everyday and it feels like a lost a friend' are insane.

here,here!!

As much as his death is sad, all this 'countdown will never be the same again' stuff is a bit over the top.
It wont be the same all good things come to an end.

I'm sorry I really can't agree Siggy.

It's wrong to suggest that becuase people feel the loss of a familiar face (especially one who airs daily for 23 years) that they are somehow lacking in mental capacity. You may not feel any loss whatsoever, but others do. I respect your right to feel nothing; I think the least you could do is allow others to express their feelings.

To compare Diana and Richard Whiteley is to compare two figures in the public eye who enjoyed the affection of many.

On a personal level I was upset by both their deaths. Although it may seem like I am running with a crowd I assure you my feelings are quite my own.

i have feelings and thoughts on the death of richard, however i feel it improper and ignorant to pour my feelings into a thread like this - it will almost certainly never we read by anybody close to him and as such, the whole thing seems a pointless bandwagon jumping and approval seeking exercise.

i also stand by my comments in the earlier post - people who watched countdown making suppositions about his personal character is both utterly pathetic and misguided.

Oh, didn't you know guys? Dr Sigmund Mohammad is the only person who has the authority to allow you to have feelings, and to tell you what they should be.

If you feel anything different, he of course is going to psychoanalyse you.

Analysing things that do NOT have any need for it is in itself a result of a manic personality - somebody who has only one métier in life and can never switch it off, because they are an empty person without it.

Why Sigmund? That's what you do all the rest of the time. What's a forum for in your view then, exactly? Simply a place for people to make posts agreeing with you? Anything else has no place here, right?

perhaps he ought to have kept it quiet if he didnt want to be criticised.

So anybody who wants to promote something without being criticised ... can't?

What is it with people on this forum who have so much wrong with their lives they have nothing better to do than verbally batter everybody else?

You only make it clear who the REAL sad cases are. I'm sure he won't be the one lying awake at night trying to think of 'clever' verbal salvos to launch at some poor unsuspecting target.

The sooner you learn to treat genuine people with some respect, who DON'T always have to have an ulterior motive for writing something or setting up some sort of tribute to somebody (in TV, for after all this is a "TV Forum") the better. This is not a psychology forum, this is not a forum for socio-economic debate, and this is not a forum that was set up so that certain regulars could troll around looking for the next new member to hurl missiles at for no good reason other than simply the presence of newcomers makes them feel threatened and that they might lose the 'Top Dog' position.

Honestly, TVM and Sigmund - out of the two of you, which one is Bea from Prisoner Cell Block H then, and which of you is Mrs. Ferguson? God help any new inmates that may arrive, if they don't fit your mould.

Why? I maybe misunderstanding you, but people who watch Countdown are people who have watched it for years and have grown to love Richard Whiteley. I think you should go away and do some thinking about the pathetic and misguided things YOU'VE said.
