I have set up a website of condolance for Richard, and I would like as many people to sign it as possible. The website is at www.goodbyerichard.tvheaven.com and on July 30th it will be presented to ITV Yorkshire Television.
for what purpose?

It will be presented to Yorkshire Television in July.

nice idea, but it still says he died on the 27th, steddenm.

This has now been rectified.

All the above sentiments, surely.

Who else rembers his Gotcha? That was some of the funniest TV the BEEP has ever given us.

Nice adlibbed moment from Ian White just now mentioning when he last saw Richard 'in this very studio'.

Sad news, my sentiments exactly as have been mentioned by others here. I'm sure all at YTV thought it would be a short-term arrangement with guests before back to normal. Must have been a real shock when the news was told to them.

Worth watching The ITV News Channel now, as they're showing a few reports from Calendar, which have touched the subject more personally, with memories from his brother in-law and niece.

I think Dicky Bird summed up Richard Whiteley perfectly, he was a legend, he could do it all, journalism to entertainment, he did a marvellous job for more then 30 years, and Yorkshire viewers got to view this on a regular basis, I don't think we will see another person like him in our lifetime like Richard.

will it bring richard back from the dead? it seems perfectly normal to me that threads like this contain general sentiments to the tune of "he will be missed". but i'm not sure whether his colleagues at YTV will be remotely interested in joe bloggs' (who never KNEW richard) condolences.

Actually, I think it should be removed, because there are sadly a few crude comments written by teenage morons no doubt.

Totally agree.... It was a nice thought to set up a condolence book, but sadly it is always likely to be abused by a few spineless idiots, and there are some extremely distasteful comments on the site which sour the positive and affectionate messages of everyone else.

The comments that are rude on the condolance site WILL be removed before the copy is forwared to YTV.

I am NOT removing the site. There are many comments on there that will not only give his family some solice and comfort but also reflect the mood of the nation.

Yorkshire TV, BBC North, Channel Four and S4C are all connected with the site, and will have the final say before anything is passed onto his family.

I think the family know how people are feeling. They'll have lots of these. Rolling Eyes

If Steddenm wants to set up an online condolence book then why on earth not - s/he is free to do so. What's it got to do with the rest of you? If you don't want to contribute, then you are free not to.

well if he will mention it on a forum, theres half a chance we may discuss it. perhaps he ought to have kept it quiet if he didnt want to be criticised.
