Carried away? You should be . . . preferably as far away as possible!

Now go and finish your homework, or your teacher will be very cross with you tomorrow.

Moving on from scottishender's comments, if anyone's interested in seeing an interview with Carol click here. Very emotional video.

Poor woman, She was really close to Mr Whiteley.

PS I'll cut down anything about death in theards in future. I think Scottish was right about the idea

Scottishender hacks me off. The original "If Richard Whiteley dies, will Countdown still be on?" thread was rediculous enough.

Appopriate because we are now indeed asking "Will Countdown Still Be On?"

But Scottishender's too busy listening to "The Final Countdown" by Europe at the moment.

That was when he was first rushed to hospital. I still say it was good to close it after he died

Agreed. There will be a huge void left by Richard's death. Well done to Carol for agreeing to be interviewed in very trying circumstances. Anyone who could fail to be moved by it has no heart.

I can imagine it disappearing from our screens now, in all honesty. What was once, and still is, a flagship show for Channel 4 will, IMO decrease in popularity due to the loss of Richard. I think Channel 4 should finally decide to draw the curtains and come up with a new format - after all, it's just not right without "Mr Countdown".

That's not the point, Scottishender. Millions of viewers around the country - and the world - are mourning the loss of a great man and all you can do is fill these forums with puerile and juvenile junk. Given the circumstances the last thing that will be on ANYONE'S mind will be whether Countdown continues or not - as Carol has quite rightly said in that clip, they simply don't know what they're going to do without Richard as he WAS Countdown.

God help us if anyone died in YOUR family.

Duncan Wood did the excellent interview with Carol, if you get to see it in full (it lasts about seven minutes) it's a tear jerker.

As a funny reposte, Bob Warman became great friends with Richard in the seventies, when old Mr ATV was beamed in to present 'Good Morning Calendar'. Old Richard thought his days were up, but they got pally and realised they were both real ladies men. It's a littel known fact that Richard had more women than hot dinners!

A genuinely nice guy (dealt with him in previous careers) much missed and I'm sure everyone on the forum sends sympathy to Katharyn and his son.

P.S. Buy his book - it's so funny. Only Fred and Bob left now of the old guard - a bit sad really.
