Unless I'm mistaken the winner of the competition isn't announced that day. I *think* the competition runs all week with the weekly winner being announced the following Monday. Thus completely different to the competition on R&J where the 'winner' is announced during that show.

So, the "ridiculously easy" questions are not unreasonable. As Chris Tarrant would say, "It's only easy if you know the answer".

My mum's fiancee, for example, has absolutely no idea who the band "Queen" are/were. People on this Forum would probably think that " everybody knows who Queen are". But, there is probably no one thing that literally everybody knows about.

Sorry, but that suggests someone who doesn't really know what they're on about. The sort of questions being considered here are easy because they're multiple choice, and the wrong answers are clearly ridiculous and labelled as such, or you've been told the answer less than a minute before the question. The new legislation was meant to put an end to that sort of thing and make sure there was a significant level of inherent skill involved, otherwise they're as good as lotteries anyway.

Exactly, questions like this for example are hardly mind-bending...

"The Queen celebrates her 80th birthday today blah blah blah but what is the name of her official home..

A - Buckingham Palace
B - 10 Downing Street
C - The Moon"

I think they should have more humerous questions, like

Mars
Earth
Uranus

I think there should test the people:

IF mrs A phone R&J 2 twice a day 5 days a week at a cost of £1.12 each call

and she only does this when there on air, which is 27 weeks per year but she also on holiday once when there not one and once when there are on: but doesn;t matter as she only goes to Blackpool so she still she them

: So what phone company is she with:

ring.....

its now saying this could have been going on for about 14 weeks: Confused

""TV quiz fiasco 'may cover 14 weeks'
Husband-and-wife chat show hosts Richard and Judy told of their fury at the phone quiz fiasco that has engulfed their programme.

The Richard and Judy programme is at the centre of a controversy which saw viewers pay £1 to enter a quiz - after the contestant for that day had already been chosen.

Channel 4 on Thursday admitted the problem had affected the current and last series of the show.

In the Daily Mirror, the show's presenters, Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan said they were furious about the scandal.

Mr Madeley told the paper: "The word f***ing isn't permissible on TV but I feel f***ing furious about this and so does Judy. We're livid about it.

"I think it is a cock-up, not a conspiracy. But we'll wait and see what the inquiry turns up. We're angry on behalf of our viewers."

Channel 4 is investigating whether or not earlier series of the show have been affected. The competition, You Say, We Pay, was pulled last Friday after a newspaper raised the matter.

A spokesman for the broadcaster said: "We cannot confirm any figures and we would caution against extrapolating them because the number of calls varies significantly from week to week."

He added: "We are still looking into these allegations and we believe it will be some time before we are in full possession of the facts, but our initial inquiries suggest that the problem affected not just the current series but also last summer's run of Richard and Judy."

The channel is investigating whether or not viewers were encouraged to enter the competition even though the day's contestant had already been chosen in the first few minutes of the show - meaning they had no prospect of winning.""

I actually prefer the programme without the competition.

Just seen an interview with Sophie Elis-Baxter with her young son enthusing about his radio mike then being given a stick off the set by Richard (which some meany off camera took off him Sad )

guests toddlers let loose on live tv programmes are much more entertaining than competitions Very Happy

Saw that - obviously they're cutting down on costs, what with all the money they now owe everyone. I love the way Richard says "The word f***ing isn't permissible on TV but I feel f***ing furious about this and so does Judy. We're livid about it." As if Judy couldn't tell us that herself! I know he does stuff like that the whole time, it's still funny though.

Also, for anyone who didn't see Dead Ringers last night:
"This is Channel Four. Coming up next, it's Richard & Judy, where there's still time to take part in yesterday's show."

Interesting about last nights programme was that the 'Crash test Dummies' item from their car park was in daylight. I'd have thought that it was likely to have been a pre-recorded item..... but now that You Say We Pay has been dropped I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing isn't recorded now.

Especially on a Friday when everyone's keen on getting home early for the weekend!
