Put The Telly On
Another dig at Channel 4. It would be easy for them just to ditch You Say We Pay. To be honest I think its become dodgy, I'm sure R&J were deliberately hanging time the other day just to make sure the viewer didn't exceed the standard £6000. Its supposed to be a grand for every correct guess right?

On another note The Mail on Sunday could just investigate ITV Play a little further and that new show...what's it called now? Glitterball? Also giving holidays and cars away apparently. Rolling Eyes

i didn't even know it was still on.

i would advocate every broadcaster shutting down for an hour between five and six, i can't think of a show that has even been on during this slot which is worth watching.

Well, if QVC happens to have a TOVA TSV, that's a guaranteed hoot.

I used to like Today with Des and Mel and Blue Peter does sort of count.
And the 1st relaunch of Crossroads was supposed to be good.

That's actually a very good idea. It is indeed something of a "twilight zone" slot to try and fill.

Here's what's probably happening in most people's lives between 5-6pm:

I suppose that people who work 9-5 won't be watching telly at all until at least 6pm. Although kids will probably have got home from school by about 4pm, once CBBC on BBC One has finished (or maybe even before it's finished) they're probably being forced to eat their dinner at the dining table and/or to get on with homework. Toddlers are being sent up to bed. People who work twilight hours are probably just getting up, or are on their way to work. People who work nights are either not awake yet, or are busy having breakfast.

Etc, etc, etc...

So, that leaves very little of the population watching telly between 5-6pm. So, indeed, what is the point of telly during that hour? Who's it for?

Well the 5pm slot does seem to do ok. Around 1 million watching CBBC, around 2 million watching The Weakest Link. Neighbours at 5.35pm gets around 3million. Richard and Judy gets around 2million. ITV 1 around 1.5million - so that's quite a lot.

I do find You Say We Pay funny at times, although i would never ring in to play it. I like Richard and Judy though, i think the show has the right mixture for that time of day.

About 15 million people are watching TV during the 5pm hour

If true it sounds pretty dodgy.

However, are the Daily Mail / Mail on Sunday anymore trust worthy than C4 and Richard and Judy?
