Richard and Judy quit TV chatshow

A bit of both, but it's been no secret long before the You Say We Pay saga that Judy especially wanted to quit - and they were more than happy to take the cut in series length to accommodate Paul O'Grady.


I imagine initially they'll have more episodes of Come Dine with Me to fill the gap - and perhaps bring back something like The Coach Trip which was pushed out by the arrival of Deal or No Deal.


I think though they will be looking to establish a new teatime chat show host especially as Paul O'Grady has indicated he'll leave at the end of his new contract in 2009.

Judy's interest has clearly wained over the past couple of years. She looks totally bored and only comes alive during the Book Club series.

According to The Sun and the Express , R&J will do occasional shows based on the Book Club for C4. It is rumoured that Richard wants more of a solo career, whilst Judy "winds down" her presenting.

They also both plan to write novels in their spare time.

As for the 17:00 slot when POG is not on... perhaps they could do similar topical chat show, maybe with somebody like Christian G-M fronting it? It will be interesting to see what happens in a year or two's time...

I agree the format is worth keeping but I'm sure Ch4 would rather stick DOND in the slot.

It wouldn't surprise me, or Place in Sun !

I bet Paul won't be hanging around for much longer, then Channel 4 will be back where it started before Richard and Judy came along!

They'll have to bring back Ricki Lake

Hopefully they can see that the format works and will look to cactus to create a show very similar, but with different hosts. I don't think it should be a total replica, but the format is there, and they should revamp everything so that it doesn't appear to be the same show.

I personally thought that Piers Morgan filled in pretty good once for them.

I'm not sure that David Walliams and Lisa Snowdon would work (together that is) full time, it's was an interesting idea for a one off though.

when does Paul contract end?

ie treat the audience like *******?. If it is the same show don't try pretending it's not. It's patronising.

Maybe they'll again nick an already popular and established daytime brand. "Phil & Fern" anyone?
