So, now they've had a week on Watch, what is your opinion on Richard and Judy? Was talking about this with wor lass yesterday and she was saying that she used to watch the C4 show loads but didn't even know they were on a different channel now.

So have they become old news now? Is there a new big pairing in town? I know some of us enjoy Richard and Judy for the apparent 'chemistry' but to watch them now is just cringeworthy sometimes. What's yer view?

Well personally I think the title "Richard and Judy's New Position" is a bit unfortunate. I wouldn't know what they're old position was.

I think that Richard's assertion that their new channel was the place to be and the "future of television" is a touch optimistic!

I think they may well regret leaving Channel 4 before long?

I preferred the topical stuff of the Ch4 show. Interviewing has never been their strong point - they are terrible arse lickers.

That's the only reason I used to tune into their C4 show. I wasn't usually interested in the interviews, just the topical debates. If this new show is just about celebrity guests, then I shall not bother with it. Personally, I think they're old hat now and it serves them right for looking a gift horse in the mouth. They had a great programme in a great time slot on a prominent channel with lots of viewers. They've practically gone to the other end of the scale in the space of a month or two.

They've only run for a week - its a bit early to write them off yet!

Their timeslot is the same if you catch the next-day repeat on watch (as I do).

If there is ever going to be a good time to jump to a digital-only then I think its now. They've secured the flagship position on an already very popular channel - hardly the wilderness it was even three years ago.

Their interviews have been great so far. I think they get the best out of their guests. Marie Helvin, Tim Piggot-Smith, Eddie Izzard - all great interviews that I saw. They've incorporated the book club strand and other bit and pieces too - topical matters will be included I have no doubt. I missed Alan Davies on the Friday show, but doubtless that was good too, and I'll see it tonight when I get in.

The Rufus Hound pieces are absolutely superb - and its really laugh out loud funny.

They're much more shrewd than they're being given credit for. After all, we ALL said they would crash and burn with a 5pm show on 4 and look how wrong we were.

If you get a chance, Rob, do try and catch an episode. If you liked the C4 show then I honestly think you'll like this one.

I caught one of the episodes, and of course you should never judge something so early on, but as great as they were, it had a very UKTV style to it. Like 'Wogan, Now and Then' and that Jimmy Saville show. In that they try to be big and glam and BBC/ITV-esque in style, but they just sound and look quite cheap. I don't know how to describe it. It's almost as if you can smell the balsa wood when the guests walk the set and feel how small the studio really is. It's also the same when Dave do shows like that 'Car of the Year' thing. This is why i'm not really looking forward to them re-making Red Dwarf!

What ratings has this been getting so far?

I know what you mean. When G2 covered the 2006 World Cup, they presented it in a very BBC/ITV style but it still ended up looking very cheap for a reason I too can't quite put my finger on.

Its the same studio they had previously, except with the extra "bar" area off-set. To me it has the same feel as the old show, although the guests walk on set to a round of applause rather than already being seated.

There's some nice camera work in it.

I used to like their Channel Four show because it was live every day, a very rare thing in this day when most shows are pre-recorded.

But now with their new show being recorded in advance over a 2-3 day peroid and no Monday show, just a compliation, it has lost the feel which I used to like about it.

I would like to see the topical bits back, with ratings plummeting down to around 50,000 and maybe lower, maybe they should bring back the topical issues along with celebrity chat?

I'll definitely try to catch an episode this week. I know the first showing is at 8.00pm but do you know when all the repeats are, Gavin? Is it only repeated once at 5.00pm the following day?

I'd hope they can include some topical features but if the shows are recorded then that might be slightly tricky. For instance, I remember their programme on September 11th 2001 - because they were live they were able to react to the news that broke that afternoon. Does anyone know how far in advance they record the programmes?

5pm on Watch or the 6pm repeat (of the repeat) on Watch+1. I think it might be on elsewhere as a later night repeat, but I'd need to check.

It seems to be the afternoon/early evening by the looks of the daylight outside - presumably some of them won't be the day of broadcast, others are.

Plenty of scope for topicality I shouldn't wonder.
