Richard Hammond is good on the excellent "Brainiac Science Abuse" programme - but this new one is just chronic.

The whole thing just screamed out "over rehea***d" to me - especially the messy bit at the end.

Richard: "I think you better slap one more pie on just to be sure"
Mel: "Are you sure?"
Richard: "Yes"
Mel slaps the pie in Richard's face

That (along with the rest of the show) just seemed very very staged to me.

Does anybody remember the pie fight on Paul O'Grady's show awhile back? My God now THAT was funny! Razz

Add another 'very' to that and we're on the same lines.

It's amazing to think that out of several pilots this was the successful one!! Shocked

Sometimes the titles for a show let you know what you're going to be in for and after I watched them I knew horrible times lay ahead. And you can't always blame the warm-up men if the show is crap.

When does Paul O'Grady comeback again?

Where did you get this info from?

Didn't see much of it, but from what I did see why is it called the Richard Hammond show when Mel seems to have a pretty equal presenting role?

Probably because Richard is more high profile now; the thing is I thought it's working title was The 5'o Clock Show. If I was Mel I'd be slightly pissed off.

Also I think the show would be better if it was presented by Mel and Sue.

It was awful really. Mel was carrying Richard really, she was the star of the show, yet doesn't get the star billing. Richards labouring of the point about the Barbie Horse packaging was nauseating.

It's obviously Paul O'Grady on the cheap, without the budget for celebrity guests. Wonder if this one is going to be recorded on Thurs & Fri's the same way as Paul O'Grady ?

Don't know why ITV feel they have fill the slot with another show like Paul's. What happened to quizzes ? How about The People Versus with Kay Adams or that one that Andrew Castle did last year ?

Failing that, another series of the 24 Hour Quiz Very Happy

I used to enjoy 24 hour quiz, The People Versus and that one with Andrew Castle that no-one can remember the name of!

I.T.V.1 needs a bit more variety in the schedule at the moment and I would like to see 24 hour back at 5.

From memory the original AB listings had it as "The 5 o'clock show" though now it is listed as "Richard Hammond's Five O'Clock Show". I think it would have been better in its original form.

YAY! I've said it before and I'll say it again. That programme was legendary. Barry from Eastenders getting overexcited and sweating was fantastic.

Of course the big climax with the cheap credit cards and throwing them across the studio was the best bit of it all.
