One thing I did think while watching The 5 O'Clock Show was that it seemed to come from a bigger studio & have a bigger audience set up. According to this from Guardian's Media Monkey Paul O'Grady noticed this as well.

It is made in the largest studio in The London studios (Studio1) where they make Saturday night take away (which should be returning soon later this year) but they dont use the perminant seating, they have it covered up, it is where the stairs lead to. Te seating plan is was the same as The Bigger Picture last year but the 5 o'clock show have taken some of the seats away as they use the space for things there showing or when they say they are talking backstage

Is it really Studio 1?? I thought it was Studio 2..

Studio 1 is used for all the big television programmes like Saturday Night Takeaway and Parkinson - would TLS really cut-off their biggest studio for most of the week for this show?? Especially as the show strikes me as having quite a low budget, could they even afford Studio 1?!

Somebody that I work with was supposed to go on the show to do a feature on knitting, but then they watched it and felt it was a freak show and even complained to the producers about it. I think it's bad but does anybody else think it's a freak show? Can't say I noticed myself.

Also she said that she has a friend that works for a ticket company and the show has been going to virtually all of the ticket agencies trying to get people to come to the show. They really cannot give tickets away!!

Yes it is studio 1, the seats above the black thing in the middle of the seats which you can see in some shows are the fixed seats and below that they are temopry seats, they have a cirtain covering the balcony. the stairs are sometimes connected to the seats on the 5 'o clock show, the guests actuly walk up the stairs and back down when they are not connected

I know the layout of Studio 1, we've made some of our shows there - I just find it hard to beleive that TLS would use Studio 1 for this show!

I would guess that it was the only studio not in use, studios 5, 7 and 8 are too small, studio 3 has Des and Mel which doesn't have as much space or seating and studio 2 was probably already planned to be used for the Friday night project and the bigger picture

You'd probably need a bit of a sense of humour about yourself because they're going to poke some kindhearted fun at you, but it's nowhere near being a freak show.

It appears that the fate of the 5pm slot following Richard's departure is still undecided; RT are listing 5pm on Mon 13 Feb as "To Be Announced".

Mel's mind appears to have slipped/wondered during part of today's show...
"You can email us at 5 o'clock at itv dot cum <pause> com"

The show does appear to be improving compared to the first couple of shows. Or maybe they've just relaxed a bit more and a bit less scripted.
