I think that I spotted a new style credit squeeze after Diagnosis Murder. Instead of the credits being squeezed into a little box on the bottom right, it took up the bottom half of the screen.
It also doesn't animate as nice as the other. Also noticed the return of Gill Sans - the previous used swiss. I think it looked better when the logo was outside the "big coloured box", the "big coloured box" doesn't seem to line up either, and why have they ditched the picture of the ident in the background? That was a nice feature.
Does anyone else think they're being petty and purpously making this one look inferior so they can make a point?
They should just admit defeat and return to a more traditional ECP style.
ITV1 has got it spot on with their current (non-soaps) ECP. I know people moan about the plain black credits but their ECP's animation and design is superior to any other channel at present.
The BBC's new design looks half-baked. They've had plenty of time since the announcement of these modifications to come up with something better than that.
Hmmm..well they were worth waiting for, weren't they?
Can't argue with the fact they're more legible but it'll be rubbish with 4:3 programmes. The screens seem to get 'taller' whilst it's being shrunk into the bottom box, along with still having the obligatory frame jump.
And what's with the static coloured background and iPlayer/Web2.0 fading black and font looking just a bit too big?
As mentioned, these are rubbish with 4:3 programmes as today's Diagnosis Murder proved.
The most annoying thing is that the BBC still have the credit rules in place so we can't go back to having jokes or funny scenes played over the credits. BOO!!
When these launched I said the credits should take up the full bottom third of the screen - that menu thing was useless anyway.
However, the BBC being the BBC means yet again they bodge it up and it won't be until shows adapt their style once again that they'll begin to work. I imagine these would work better for shows like Doctor Who which have the character and actor on the same line - but only if the ECP involves cropping the centre of the screen to fit the box, rather than squeezing it down.
