Sources have indicated to Digital Spy that UKTV is considering replacing UKTV Bright Ideas on digital terrestrial with a revamped version of UKTV G2.
Bright Ideas launched on Freeview back in 2003 before appearing on other digital platforms. It currently airs on channel 19 between 6am and 6pm daily on digital terrestrial TV. It averaged a 0.1% share in June according to BARB.
No timescale for the change is available at present.
Go ahead, I say! I'd rather watch HIGNFY than Great Food Live!
UKTV BI is daytime only so I wonder how that will work. With Virgin 1 taking over from FTN, they'll both want to be on air in the evening
Also the reason that Bright Ideas exsists is because it shows UKTV's home made programming, will be a bit of a blow for the production companies, and UKTV might well have to renegotiate rights to G2 programmes
Hmm... is that a revamped channel with new idents, that will be the same on Freeview as it is on Sky or Virgin, or will it be "UKTV G2 Lite" showing only episodes of Ray Mears, TOTP2 and Airport back to back throughout daytime, shutting at 6pm for Virgin One?

I would be inclined to say it probably would shut down for Virgin One. Both channels sound great but it woukd be good to have them both on 24hrs, but its not available at them moment. Hope they keep Top Gear!
If they show they get G2 on air during the day then I think
Top Gear
is a must as it's usually a ratings winner for G2.
Glad to hear this as I probably watch G2 the most out the UKTV Networks, to me Bright Ideas is probably more like UKTV Style was before they started up UKTV Food and UKTV Gardens.
What they should do is buy the 6pm-6am space off of Virgin, and Virgin move FTN/Virgin 1 over one of their shopping channels to make both 24-hour on Freeview. They can then do some playing around with daytime "Bright Ideas" programming and primetime "G2" programming, or just make it straight UKG2.
