Sky News brought back Your Call after being axed nearly 4 months ago. Even, Kay Burley was struggling with the phone number & Chris Rogers spent most of the show smiling and tapping his finger on the studio desk continuously, infact, I'm sure that he hardly said anything at all!

At the start a caller was referred to as 'NAME Birmingham' As if the person's surname was Birmingham!

Kay Burley also made the first reference to the new studio, referring to the fact the e-mail address was showing on 'our new video wall'

Good news! Was it branded in any way and have they said it's a permanent fixture?

Yes, I saw the whole thing - pure gold, all of it! The bit when Kay said 'our first caller is Mohammad Birmingham. Hello Mohammad? Er, sorry, it's Mohammad IN Birmingham' was hilarious - like something off Alan Partridge Very Happy

Chris was quite good too, I thought. When Kay was having trouble dealing with one awkward caller, Chris Jumped in and said 'let me ask YOU a question...' or something. I think they make a good pair. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of these phone-ins during the afternoon shift, as the audience at that time of day generally like that sort of thing.

Kay actually mentioned the new studio briefly yesterday. She said something like 'you're watching Sky News....in our new studio' and then smirked, as if she wasn't supposed to mention it.

Excellent stuff, and very American. I expect we'll get quite a lot of this stuff, just random phone-ins linked into the news programmes, the US networks have been doing it for quite some time now and it certainly makes it more interesting.

I think saying they've brought back Your Call isn't really accurate - I think the phone in was designed to link into the news programme, and not be a programme in its own right. I certainly didn't see any Your Call branding.

They kept referring to it as 'Your Call' and beforehand, some of the graphics said 'War on Terror: Your call 2-4pm'.

Fox News has been taking a lot of phone calls over the past week - often at really random times like 5am ET! They call it 'America's Pulse'.

Ahh well you see I only tuned in at about 3.45 in the afternoon and didn't notice any Your Call branding - just the email address and the US flag being flashed about on the videowall.
Was there just 2 hours of calls? Or news updates incorporated? Hopefully it will be a regular thing, it breaks down the constant news.

It wasn't just 2 hours of calls - it was actually quite a good programme, all in all. There were a few brief updates on the latest developments, and also some live interviews with various relevant people (reporters/guests). Oliver North was on (straight after he did an interview with Fox), but I can't remember if this was part of Your Call or earlier/later.

Apparently there was a large amount of lobbying, I suppose you could call it, by the viewers for a return of Your Call.

BTW: The best ever edition of Your Call was an election special with Bob Friend & Anna Botting, when they spent the whole programme insulting the Scot, who was the guest. I'm very suprise there was no complaint to the ITC or even the race relations comission about the anti-Scottish nature. Bob even nearly went as far as suggesting the English should totally separate from the Scots. He even took the p*ss out of the accent. It was actually hilarious!

Yeah, I saw some of it as well, they did have a rather long 'headline' sequence at 3pm didn't they!

I say 'headline' as they talked for a few mins over the music about America and then kinda went onto the headlines.

Show was good tho, I thought, especially with 2 presenters.

I think having this sort of interactivity is brilliant - it does break up solid news and gives a bit of enhancement to the service... I only wish I could see it Sad

I was quite pleasantly surprised that they brought it back. I think it was just a special edition though because of all the emails and stuff they'd received. It was good to hear other people's viewpoints.

I bet they don't bring it back full time though which is a shame. My favourite YC was the one about legalisation of cannabis, when all the stoners phoned in and kept forgetting what they were calling in to say.

How I laughed Very Happy
