Just looked at the RT Xmas edition and on New Year's Day there is a full half-hour bulletin on BBC1 at 9.00pm.

Do I have a feeling this happened last New Year? http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/confused.gif

I'd love to see a return of the BBC News at Nine titles, used until Oct 00!!

That'll be a surprise, i'll doubt it, since there is no widescreen version of it!

Didn't they go widescreen during the Nine O'Clock News Era? I seem to remember they did - can anyone clarify?

There is isn't there? Wasn't it used for about one week?

Anyway, it will just be the 'BBC News' on New Year's Day probably

Yes, they announced that the 10 O Clock news was to go ahead in 2 weeks time on the 2nd October - the very day BBC News went widescreen. So the 9 O Clock news titles were only ever seen in widescreen for two weeks.

IIRC they went widescreen the day Breakfast started (*not* Breakfast 24 which was shown in the 5 days between the last Breaskfast News and the first Breakfast) and I don't remember it being the 10 o' clock news at this time. No, two weeks later is right i think Smile

Making? They will have been made as standard in widescreen when they were initially designed with all the others!

If that's the case, then I take back my comments, I think you are right, as this is the case with UKTV isn't it, making idents in 16:9, only to give digital viewers a 4:3 version of it!
