I now honestly at this point think that someone is just spoofing us, or is deluded and thinks people are actually gonna use this service.
Somebody would buy the Sit-up channel domains and the three channel websites for a spoof? .tv sites aren't cheap. It's either a really expensive hoax and somebody has money to burn, or a genuine venture with more teething problems than I've had hot dinners.
Still, the way things are going, don't think QVC have much to worry about...
I'm assuming that the new management - if it isn't a hoax - have been trying to soft launch on the internet before trying to get a TV slot, but instead of keeping things vague, they've been throwing out dates without much thought into the technicalities of getting a channel off the ground. For them to have any kind of credibility - not that the old bid had any left - they need to get their act together and either admit defeat, or give a definite, firm launch date which they will be able to stick to.
Nobody really knows the format they're going to be using either. I'd guess they'd go for the falling-price dynamic, as that is the dynamic most customers are familiar with. However, they could try and take on QVC/Ideal World with a static price format, or they could go very left of field and actually do proper auctions. I highly doubt any of the three scenarios will be happening, but I'm pretty much certain that rising price auctions on TV are long dead and buried. If they wanted the whole thing to be a bit more believable, they could at least add some more information on their website instead of just having the timer which has turned out to be pointless.
Anyway, it doesn't bode well, or look good for potential customers if they can't even launch their channel on the third attempt. I certainly wouldn't trust them to deliver anything I bought from them if they ever do start broadcasting.
