How Would You Restore CITV?

I think people are forgetting that CITV has to target the kids of today - and doesn't have the budget of yesteryear.

It is probably in better health than we all realise but more original content and having the content to keep hold of viewers until they're that little bit older is what they need to do. Live presentation won't make any difference if the programmes aren't there so that wouldn't be a priority at all for me - although adding a live show to the schedules might be an idea. Really though I think the 5pm hour is where they need to focus their efforts and put all new content that isn't aimed at pre-school kids. It would be nice now to see them expand their hours and finish at 7pm or 8pm, something they could surely do now they time share with The Zone.

It won't happen but I really do think ITV(1) could benefit from a new Saturday morning show - with no competition in the genre and a young adult audience also traditionally a big part of the viewing audience for Saturday kids shows I really do think it could work for them commercially too - simulcast on CITV and ITV. It's certainly got to be worth giving something a trial 10-week run or something, even if it's just in a 60-90 minute slot.

Well CITV is a very successful channel so they must be doing something right! Laughing I'd forget Live Presentation and extending the hours of the Channel personally...however I agree that they should focus on the 5pm hour with new content.

I think you may have a point with a 60 minute Saturday morning show simlucasting on CITV and ITV, perfect for the Children and Students nursing hangovers...give Saturday Kitchen something to really worry about. Very Happy If not on ITV then maybe still on CITV...with plenty of advertising on ITV to let people know about it!

Im sure the main reason why the Saturday morning show was axed was because the budged was cut.

I think it was because the CITV Productions unit closed.

But Holly and Stephen's Saturday Showdown was made by The Foundation.

Was it not a co-production with ITV? Certainly remember MOM was a Carlton/Foundation co-production.

And I guess Saturday Showdown was a much reduced budget version of Ministry of Mayhem.

The Junk food Ban, which lead to less advertising money which to a cut in the budget.
