WOW the old nine news - takes you back doesn't it. The graphic in the middle used to be the logo for all programmes made by the BBC News and Current Affairs department.

Well, Jamez, I'm very interested.

The Nine O'Clock News 'look' was far superior from 1985-88 - some great space-age titles, and a really punchy, powerful theme tune - my favourite national news music ever in fact! When it changed in October 1988 it was such a let-down - rubbish opening titles, dull music and a boring newsroom backdrop to the set. Inferior in every respect to its predecessor.

Is there any difference between this one, or the Nine O'Clock one?

The Nine O'clock one says 'BBC Nine O'clock News' instead of BBC News. Otherewise there the same.

The current 'beep' waves and the transmitter waves look completly differnt IMHO, they're just the same idea, but done differntly.

I think they should bring back the ?art deco? transmitter if they do a relaunch again...

My past favourite was the 1993-1999 Nine O'Clock News bulletin music, click to download the entire sequence, includes clock, headlines (look at Gordon Brown and the old Westminster studios!!) title sequence, and Peter Sissons.

Those are really great video clips! Does anyone have the BBC Nine O'Clock News intro from I think 1998 before the corporate look came in? The logo looks asthetically more pleasing.
