Oh damn! Wish you'd posted that last week! I had a classic Nine O'Clock news bully from the newsroom until I cleared out all my old tapes!
It was of a 'Pope' entering the Newsroom & the security guard rugby tackling him to the ground during the opening wide shot.
Some of the Journalists had just returned from a fancy dress party & the 'Pope' came back to pick up his belongings! Absolute classic TV
The classic news titles. Even better than the current BBC news beeps (although they have more variety)...
I can hardly remember tjhem (a bit too young), but they definalty made am impression. Much better than the carp 6 O'clock News titles fromthe same era (I hated them).
Boom Boom Crash! Boom Boom Crash! Der Deeer Deeeer Daa Daa Deee Do Da Da.... (Oh, wiat thats the Midlands Today titles (especially good after the nice calm Breakfast music ).

money for old rope then!
tsk! you'd think LN could come up with something imaginative and visually appealing. I cannot stand all that beige and red. Gimme traditional newsy blues, purples and whites!

Yep, although they didn't have any input in the sound. They wanted a 'counterpoint' to the visuals with a calming effect but had no control over the music and was done at the last minute.
My past favourite was the 1993-1999 Nine O'Clock News bulletin music, click to download the entire sequence, includes clock, headlines (look at Gordon Brown and the old Westminster studios!!) title sequence, and Peter Sissons.
