Apologies if this has already been discussed, but I couldn't find another relevant thread!

Anyway, with the axe falling on RI:SE, how should Channel 4 replace it? Let's have some ideas - here are some possibilities...

Channel 4 Breakfast News
Speaks for itself really - a serious news programme to rival Breakfast. Just like the sort of thing they did during the war.

T4 Breakfast Show
Not just a selection of the usual T4 shows, but a live, studio-based programme aimed at younger people. With news updates, guests, live music and features, along with episodes of Friends etc.

B4
A new Breakfast programme aimed at the same audience as The Big Breakfast/RI:SE, hosted by Cat Deeley and Dermot O'Leary. Broadcast live from a streetside studio in Central London, and featuring a lot of music videos/live performances alongside the usual news/entertainment/guests. Basically a TV version of a radio Breakfast show.

And my personal favourite...

Up With The Birds
Kind of like a cross between The Big Breakfast and The Girlie Show - presented by Denise Van Outen, Gail Porter and that bird from Sky Sports News. Would appeal to blokes for obvious reasons, but the girls would like it to!

So how do those sound, and what would you like to see?

Does Channel 4 Really need a 2-hour breakfast show? I thought they were thinking about just putting shows there like The salon, Friends, Scrubs and loads of other T4 shows, Popworld, Dawson's etc etc.

They should get in those "lovely" ladies from late-night Friendly TV. Then they could just use the same name as the current show.

I like the sound of "B4", although if the idea was implemented by Channel 4, it'd only be a matter
of time before cynics and critics dismiss it as another BIG Breakfast rip-off, like RI:SE (v2.0) was.

How about two hours of teletext on four! Or the testcard. Very Happy

I'm sure there'll be at least one person round here who'll enjoy that . . . !

In France on the M6 channel they have (had? - I haven't checked this year!) a programme (Morning Live) that was a bit like the B4 idea, mixing music videos with news and comedy sketches (a bit like the Big Breakfast but more so). It seemed to do quite well (there were even some comedy records released which made it to number 1 in the charts!) so maybe something like that could be a good alternative to what is on the other channels. The problem with the current plan of showing episodes of Friends etc is that most people probably dip in and out of breakfast proigrammes and would not have the time to watch a full half hour programme whilst getting ready to go out in the mornings.

LOL. I was wondering if anyone was going to pick up on that... Very Happy Yep, the music video bit of my B4 idea came straight from Morning Live!

Not sure how the programme's doing nowadays, but a couple of years ago it was absolutely huge. The only problem with it was that much of its success was due to its presenter - a completely insane comedian called Michael Youn (I think!) - and when he left, the show didn't quite have the same appeal.

Turnbull and Williams
Why don't Channel 4 poach the criminally underused Bill Turnbull & Sian Williams from the BBC (it seems the Beeb will never give them the main job on Breakfast) and use them to present a brand new Breakfast News type programme. I for one would certainly watch.

They should poach Terry and Gaby from Five, they make a great team!!

Oh no, that won't do - I kinda like the sound of a show for the opposite sex called 'Up With the Cock'....... just going to de-filth my brain.....
