Only has the first half of the show though... I presume the second half must have been on a different tape, so screen ocean treat it as a separate item.

If you click on the thumbnail with the weather map on it at the top of the player the second half comes next.

A full episode (well, 3/4 - the last half hour goes a bit wrong) with Peter Kay also on there. The Gold format really suited him - basically an opportunity to do short skits in between highlights from the show.

Looking at that, I'm working from the assumption that the last half hour was on a different tape- which hasn't been included here. After around 15 minutes of black screen someone hits the rewind button so we see those first 90 minutes of the show in a fast reverse.

Maybe they had the correct tape playing on another machine, but forgot to switch over to it and were recording the output from the other machine? Would explain why the whole video still runs to the sort of length we'd expect it to be if it had the full episode.

During some of the advert breaks, the timecode skips forward a couple of minutes, I wonder if they're the points where tapes were switched?

Is that the only time Peter Kay hosted the show or did he do another week, possibly with Liza?

Wow this site is fascinating. Loads of old C4 shows, some with the VT clock included.

Trying to watch the screen ocean episodes is a bit of a pain on my iPad as the player doesn't seem be compatible. If I’m fast forwarding through clips it just hangs on my chosen point for ages before playing again. Does the player work better in a desktop browser?

It does hang a bit on a desktop but not too bad. Interestingly the two 1994 clips have a bit of footage afterwards of them filming the promos.

Watching the show I posted above in full - god, I miss this show. Just brilliant, and so much going on. Also rather timely that they were marking the 50th Anniversary of the NHS that week.

I never really watched the Big Breakfast, but having watched some bits of episode, I'm mystified why 15 year old me wasn't glued to it daily. Not just for Denise van Outen, but because it's an entertaining watch in its own right.

Didn't realise Dani Behr was still guest hosting as late as August 1995, with Cheggers and Robbie Williams in the week of the 21st August. Wonder if she was in the running to replace Gaby - she worked very well with Keith.

Also watching the earlier stuff forgotten how much they used the family of the week in the early days - they cropped up throughout the show, not just in the Meet the Family slot at the beginning. Also a forgotten (by me at least) reworking of the washing line with Have We Got Clues For You.

Watching episode 3 (30th September 1992) Chris is still on his own by the french windows, how long until Gaby eventually joined him for those bits?

Certainly by the Christmas Day episode, and an episode from Feb 1993.

Watching these Dani Behr and Robbie Williams episodes from 1995 is a reminder of how in the early years the guest presenters actually were a real asset to the show rather than just a stand in - almost presented as a special week of the show rather than a week with the B-team.

P.S. I can't spot the difference but in later episodes the opening titles are dated as being from the June 1993, so did they tweak them slightly. Thought they might have removed the mouldy tea, but it is still there in 1995.

I can remember that week being really good. This is why it was disappointing to read the next month (around the day of the 3rd anniversary) that Zoe Ball was being brought in; Dani would have been much better.
