Yep - whilst the ITV1 regional variations (well most of them) are available FTA - they only want your local one to be in the EPG - so you only watch the adverts aimed at your region (i.e. the adverts advertisers pay for you to see...)

The BBC don't have to worry about advertisers, and have no reason not to allow you to watch other regions, and a "public service" interest in letting regional ex-pats watch out of region shows.

if you have a non Sky receiver like I have, you can get them all in a list without having to pratt about in Other Channels like you would with a Sky dodgybox!

Does that apply to radio services too? BBC (Radio) London is only on the EPG in London.

That might well be more a football rights thing]

BBC London is available FTA on DSat, wherever you are. Being on Sky's EPG or not is irrelevant when it comes to rights issues.

You did mention once though that it was expensive to put local BBC stations on digital satellite, but London was the execption due to competiton of other London stations. Or something along those lines. Please remind me.

Just a quick question.

We moved from Derbyshire to Plymouth some 2 months ago and obviously brought our Sky Box. However our BBC 1 is still BBC North West and ITV1 is Granada. We've tried resetting formatting etc with zero luck of getting BBC South West on channel 101.

Any ideas or are we stuck with Channel 987 for life for Spotlight?

Have you told Sky? Otherwise how would your box know where you are?!

You don't have to pay anything. Just tell them you've moved house.

I would imagine cost is involved in why ITV don't list all the regions. The BBC would have to pay for the EPG slots for every region, whereas ITV just have to pay for 103 and 993, which is therefore cheaper.
