During the two minutes i put my tv on mute to find that not many channels were taking part i think more channels should bring up a message and it should stay there for a couple of minutes the channels that i saw take part are the news channels sky one bbc 1 and itv. More of the kids channels should take part wether or not they are half way thorugh a programme. It shows respect who gave up there lives in the wars that have happened in the past. I hope you as forum members did your 2 minute silence and wore your poppy.

I was watching BBC News 24 at the time, during the 2 minnutes they cut through different shots around big ben etc and I was wonderring obviously someone in the gallery would have to keep working to go through the different cameras?

If the WHOLE of Britain stopped working at 11, God knows what would happen. I always think that the time you stop and think doesn't matter.

I don't think the important thing is to stop. The TWO MINUTES SILENCE is the most important factor.

I think BBC News 24 opted-in to the BBC One Cenotaph coverage. It is normal for an Event OB like this to be sent back to TV Centre with clean sound FX only to allow this. The 2 minute silence itself would obviously have been commentary free on BBC One, but either side of the silence the main OB feed would have had BBC One commentary - which News 24 would not have wanted - hence the separate feed with clean sound.

A bit off topic, but today is Veteran's Day in America. There's supposed to be a ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery today, I think. It's 'officially' recognised tomorrow - making it a federal holiday or whatever - banks are closed, schools are closed etc

Veterans Day will probably be shown on BBC World but will it be on BBC News?

Do any US News Channels show rememberance sunday footage from the cenotaph?

The Arlington National Cemetery wreath-laying ceremony has just ended. And no, I don't think the US news channels showed any Remembrance Day ceremonies. They're very ethnocentric, especially with the war going on and all.

Surely you should have been remembering those who have sacrificed their lives rather than channel hopping.

Although it was not in the spirit of things, I flicked about and saw ads on C5, and C4 and BBC2 carrying on with programming.

Two minutes is not a lot to ask, is it?

BBC1 and ITV1 observed it.
