does anyone elese remember this?? I loved it when it was on all those years ago and had totally forgotten all about it and recently 'by acident' found it on DVD at play.com and it suddenly came back to me and I bought it
WOW! ive just spend the last week watching all 8 episodes that were made and It was brillant. A Who-dunnit police investion series but with a sci-fi twist brillant. Like Johnthan Creek only they actully time traveled to work the crimes out rather than using logic, Anyone elese remmber it??
Only problem was with 6 of the 8, I remembered the end sulution as I was watching
I remember reading something last year on one of the media websites where there was talk of bringing it back. (probs not true like)
Wonder what the ratings were and why it got axed?
I seem to recall (but correct me if I'm wrong) that the ratings were pretty good, and when they axed it there was great surprise from the fans and many other people as it was very popular.
I personally thought it was great, and deserved more series, but hey, that's the way it goes.
If anyone knows the real reason why it wasn't continued, that'd be interesting!
I certainly remembered it! Used to be one of my favourite shows when it was on. I got the DVD off play.com as soon as it was released and then a few months later got the second half of the series! It was great watching them again.
I'd completely forgotten about the series until 2000 when I was watching an episode of 'Kiss Me Kate' being filmed with Chloe Annett guest starring in it, I spent the whole recording trying to remember where I knew the name from and at the end of the evening had to ask her! She looked extremely different though!
I think the reason I loved it so much was the fact it was created by Anthony Horowitz, creator of 'Murder in Mind' and the original writer of 'Midsomer Murders' (it's not as good as it used to be now that he doesn't write any!)
Yep - I remember it (it wasn't THAT long ago!) and enjoyed it as well. It was kind of from the same school of action/drama as Bugs - not quite realistic, not quite modern day, but full of great UK locations and action.
Pity they cancelled it - I reckon there was probably another series in it - though I imagine the format was quite restrictive for the writers (Bugs must have been an easier show to get different ideas into?)
They don't seem to be doing much like this at the moment - though I can't wait for the new Dr Who series of course!
Like Bugs, I watched it despite the fact that it was utterly, staggeringly ludicrous - especially the episode with the sub-plot involving them trying to buy the that day's winning lottery ticket. Obviously the idea of them having just one day to solve whichever crime had been committed made it rather more exciting, with the obvious panicked running around which always seemed to occur in the last five minutes of each episode.
Some parts were a bit clunky but I, too, was surprised that it only lasted for one series, especially when god knows how many episodes of Bugs were made.
1. Will there ever be another series of Crime Traveller?
Sadly, no is the answer. Anthony Horowitz explains why, " The show wasn't exactly cut. There was a chasm at the BBC created by the arrival of a new Head of Drama (Peter Salmon) and our run ended at that time. There was no-one around to commission a new series...and so it just didn't happen."
