Was posted a while back, but on the FAQs they said:
"Will the Film4 free-to-air service carry any advertisements during films?
- Yes, like most other free-to-air channels the new Film4 channel will have advertising breaks. We are passionate about films and it is in our interest to show them in the best possible environment, so we will do our utmost to handle advertising breaks as carefully as possible. There will not be an on-screen logo on Film4."
Looks like they are sticking to their word so far. As ever, we'll have to see how things look in a few weeks (ie. how fequently will the films repeat, and will the ad structure still be 'careful'?). I have confidence though.

25 minutes in by my watch before ad break one, that's not bad at all, eh

The launch promo at 9pm was aired simultaneously on Channel 4 and Film4, I didn't check More4 or E4 though... so it might've aired at the same time on all the channels.

Don't know how it works with TV channels, but it may be comparable to newspapers. In local papers, when details of an advert are messed up (which happens worryingly often) then, depending on the level of the screw-up, they're either offered a re-run (in again next week), given a discount or a complete refund. In addition it's not unheard of for advertising departments to be on to editorial asking for a favour to keep a client happy after a mistake.
In terms of this advert? If it's been produced specifically for launch night, and it has gone that badly wrong, they're going to owe their client big.

Oh dear. They'll be raging.
On the subject of silent adverts, what actually happens in terms of money back? I've seen this sort of thing a few times and have always wondered how much they get back.

Did nobody else notice the irony of the silent commercials for French cars in the middle of a film entitled "Lost in Translation"?
