You can catch some C3NE idents at TV Whirl

Cheers, CBBC.

And out of all the sites with C3NE idents on, you pointed him to the one with the poorest quality captures. Embarassed Really, you'd be better off looking at TheTVRoom page for Tyne Tees, as it has the mid-length version and I captured the same long version of the ident that's on my site (the one which really felt big and grand) for Mike a few years back too in better quality. I'd update mine with a better copy nowadays if only I could find the darned tape anymore. Razz

There used to be a lot of quality regional programmes that had decent budgets and decent audience figures - but that was when the stations were locally owned.

Confused: Such as....

Which regional programmes did tyne tees produce that were any different to the ones we get now?

They were many quality programmes broadcast regionally, for example Robson's People does anyone remember that?

Oh lets think of a few.. Friday Live! Started in 1978, had a few name changes over the years, with its final format ending in 1994. A good debate show, entertainment show and music ect.. Friday nights 10.30pm very popular local programme.

I'd say Tyne Tees Weekend on a Sunday afternoon was a rather good lifestyle programme.

The local comedy programmes which featured the local talent. That is a cheap programme to make, yet always seemed to do well.

Robson's People/Place, again a people show, but mixed humour and music and stuff. Wouldn't work on a national level, but was popular in the region.

The thing is every area has its own qualities, which is why regional ITV works, there are programmes that the North East loved that I doubt the South East or Midlands would enjoy. But the local programmes were not just documentaries and regional clones of programmes. There were many comedy, entertainment and such shows being made.

Yeah I really enjoyed that show and Northern Life, although people hated the set, I thought it was quite good at the time.Smile

That was what I liked about old ITV, I only wish we could have accessed all the regions of ITV ten/15 years ago, because there was an incredible amount of diverse programmes which were transmitted by each of the regions, and all had their own style of broadcasting combined with quality network programming.

Is there anything stopping broadcasters other than ITV setting up regional TV stations? Greater Manchester has Channel M dosen't it? Dosen't that transmit on terrestrial?

All i'm saying is why do ITV have to be the ones to handle regional TV. Why not let someone else do it? Infact let ITV help fund the beginnings of such a thing and they can use that as a perfect excuse to say right fine we're dropping ITV regions altogether.

I think it could work.

It's because Channel M is a Restricted Service Licence (RSL) channel which is broadcast from a transmitter at Salford University IIRC, but there are other RSL's in York, Oxford and somewhere in Northern Ireland.

I also believe that Channel M is the only RSL I can think of that is Broadcast on Digital Cable, outside of it's Broadcast area, as most of NTL's customers in Cheshire and Lancashire can recieve the channel.

The problem is that it's not that Local, they have a half decent News service, but otherwise that's it, it's just repeats of Canada's CityTV programmes and EuroNews.
