That's not going to happen for a very long time.

Hehe, Matt, weren't you saying that about networked continuity almost EXACTLY one year ago, two weeks before it happened?

Wait and see, my boy, wait and see!

When you say all regions, do you mean ALL regions, or are you doing the done thing and forgetting that Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands exist. Wink

If HTV News moves to London, Lucy will be happy as it means she'll be able to do some much needed clothes shopping.

No, not in the slightest, Matt.

I repeat the analogy of last year and continuity. Just as SMG, UTV and CTV have been "a bit slow" coming on board for continuity, they'll likely do the same for regional news.

BUT WATCH THIS SPACE!

Yup - Harry Gration's done a bit of national broadcasting from time to time on the like of Grandstand, Commonwealth Games, footy etc.. and I can definitely see Christa Ackroyd on the One, Six or Ten. She's definitely no shrinking violet so would be able to do the 'hard interview'. Very strong-headed as well, she's got a column in the Sunday Express.

In a way, I can see Peter Levy doing quite well but maybe on Breakfast telly, where banter's slightly more evident. Helen Fospero has already done GMTV when she was known as Helen Morton, so she's already been there and done that.

As for Paul Hudson, he's appeared a couple of times on that Nicki Chapman/Robert Nisbet morning show. On his first appearance he called southerners 'wimps'!!

So in two weeks time can we expect to see Katie Derham prerecording every regional news programme from the same studio? Laughing

The funniest thing about it, is that I wouldn't be surprised if it happened, not anymore!

Fairly easy thing to do and not time consuming. Record the links to camera and insert clips into the computer that would play-out the packages produced by regional/local journo's.

A mix of live national and recorded regional could be made to look like one programme.

Spotlight's BBC presenters would be ideal as national news readers.

Richard Bath has from Westcountry News has already done a lot of national work.

Yes, Teresa and Justin would be very good indeed. Lucie Fisher also has an awful lot of potential - I reckon she's one of the best presenters to come out of the south west region in a long time.

Richard Bath I can't stand, so I'm not sure about him.

I reckon Sally Taylor from South Today would do an excellent job.

Now THERE'S a damn fine idea, Philip!

It could go out from 6pm to 7pm couldn't it?

Have we been listening to the same vine full of grapes?

Sounds like I'm going to have to make a phone call tomorrow morning.
