Would your regional news anchors be good enough to present a national news, such as News At Ten or The 6 O'clock?

Spotlight's BBC presenters would be ideal as national news readers.

Richard Bath has from Westcountry News has already done a lot of national work.

Both Jon and Lucy would make very good national newsreaders. They already have to sound more like national presenters than the other ITV companies, what with HTV being a "national broadcaster of Wales".

Emily Maitlis has already been a national presenter, for Sky News.

Well, I guess they'll all have to be good enough, or get fired, once Carlnada's ITN takes over ALL the regional news operations.

Actually, it seems that a lot of regional presenters are either ex-national newsreaders shunted out, or overnight Sky News readers!

That's not going to happen for a very long time. Even if it does, they'll still need the presenters.

I think that might have been said in jest at the developments at LNN today.

Ah yes, Sky News overnight, I seem to see alot of presenters from Carlton regions, possibly the most recent being Mai Davies, but they had that Owen fellow who used to be on HTV West but is now on Channel TV. Though as I think about it do presenters from Granada's regions get more money than Carlton's? As I am sure I haven't seen a single presenter from Granada Reports, Calendar or LNN, there might have been the odd person from Tyne Tees doing a bit of freelancing. Plus overnight you see ex-TVS man Gordon Radley, Hannah O' Sullivan, who used to read for Meridian? (Does she still do that?) Plus you see Yorkshire/ Tyne Tees man Johnathon Morell on there from time to time.

It's "amazing" who you can see on Sky News after 12.00am most nights.
