The 'East Midlands' represents a BBC region, as far as I know Carlton covers ITV1 in this region (generally). The poll isn't supposed to be for which is better, just which you live in.

Regions sometimes, in this case, do not work as simply as that. Remember that the BBC 'East Midlands' branding doesn't mean the political region of all of Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Northamptonshire. The region does cover many parts of these counties, plus Peterborough, Coventry, north Warwickshire and Rugby. The region doesn't go as far north as North Lincolnshire (anywhere north of Lincoln), North Nottinghamshire and North Derbyshire.
Central 'East' is similar- Rugby is featured often on Central News East, rather than West. How many times are you likely to hear about Rugby in east Warwickshire on Central News West, with places as far away as Wrexham (on the HTV/Central overlap), Crewe (Granada/Central overlap) and Shrewsbury that are in the West region?
The region is called 'East Midlands' on-screen because it is the East of the Midlands and to make it different from BBC 'Midlands'.
I will vote in your poll now. If we are voting for which region I live in then i'll tick the box that says 'BBC Midlands, Carlton Central West, Carlton Central East and BBC East Midlands'. My area is covered by all of these.
