I have just thought of a brilliant hands on thing that TV Home members could do. Imagine if you will,December the 25th 2001. Whereever you are Christmas idents might be going around, and your local news will celebrate in it's own, unique way. So who ya gonna call? The RTVCC-Regional TV Home Christmas Correspondents! As late November goes and December starts, we all nominate one member from every region to record and document what is going on in THEIR region in Xmas 2001,and then showcase it with words and/or pictures in this topic. Great, isn't it? Well I can see some people are shaking their heads and saying- 'But all 16 ITV regions are already on Sky! We'll be able to see them anyway!' But-the BBC regions aren't availible yet are they? And-How do you know the'll still be FTA by the end of December? And even-How can you watch 2 channels at the same time? You can't! Which is why I've created this idea and topic.

About the nominations-well,I'd like to put myself forward as being the SOUTH WEST correspondent-reporting on all things Spotlight and Westcountry Live. People like Steve Naylor could do the North East region while I think we'll need polls for the Midlands,London and Look North Leeds regions as so many people here live in those places!!!
I really really hope I get some good or bad comments to this topic,as it really does sound very intriguing. This could be the biggest TV Forum event..ever!!!!

i think its a good idea - ive always pondered how things differ in other regions at xmas, eg, who has a christmas tree and who doesnt, as its the kind of info you dont usually find on websites.

does anyone know when the local news usually put up the decorations, (what date), i know its not this early, as they usually stay till the new year.

i downloaded a clip of look east in the 90s where they had a christmassy version of their music, so they obviously eneter into the christmas spirit, midlands today had a MASSIVE tree last year, so it should be interesting

well don't participate then.

Billy - sounds like a good idea I suppose. I could do East Mids if you wanted.

Well I could provide some info for the TTTV South opt-out if Steve Naylor is in the North of the region...

Not sure what I'd be expected to do though:?

Good idea!

I'll do the Look North (Hull) version of Christmas, and if Square Eyes can capture some pics, there may be a Slide Show in it!

No, I'll be back in the wonders of Yorkshire in a week or so... from December 7 ish. I'm only here at Durham when at University - so back to the joys of Leeds Look North! Smile

Yes I'll work together with Katherine on the Look North / Hull Opt-out. There will most definately be slideshow potential in there.

Especially if Philpot drapes herself in tinsel and wears Christmas Pudding earrings !

Well I'll be able to report on Look North and Calendar (The Calendar-Tonight Christmas Special is usually shown where Mike and Christa joins Christine for a seasonal special, Obviously this year Mike and Christine will probably join Gaynor!)

I won't be able to do any pictures though.

In the days between Xmas and New Year, theres also the 'Calendar Review of the Year' as well, Look North do a similar but smaller segment part of the regular bulletins.

Plus theres Peter Levy presenting Look North on New Years Eve and New Years Day every year!

and the YTV Weather presenters dressing up as Santa!

I love the idea. It will be really good to get all the christmas gossip from all of the regions.
