I do feel that as the Channel Islands are so far away from mainland England, that they ought to break away from Plymouthy and the South West.
After all, they have always been on their own on ITV1, so why not on the BBC?
Could the 2230 opt-out be a sign? After all, East MidsTdy started out as an opt-out on MidsTdy, but eventually became a fully-fledged separate (sp?) region/programme - so why can't the Channel Islands?

It's weird how a lot of Cumbria is actually covered by BBC North West. In Grasmere, mid Cumbria you recieve BBC NW and Border. Why not have all the relays in Cumbria to BBC NE? It's just really confusing. A while ago, Grasmere and most other parts of South Cumbria were covered by Granada, but Border moaned about it, so Border then took over all South Cumbrian relays.
It's also weird how a bit of Yorkshire is covered by BBC NW. Todmorden, West Yorks recieves it and also part of the Yorkshire Dales.

I think that Wales Today should have a sub-opt, the news tends to have a mainly south wales slant - and isn't fair to our friends in Gogeldd Cymru. Although I don't think a seperate programme is needed, after all the National Assembly is in Cardiff!
