I think you've answered your own question, there, they don't bother as there are networked highlights - although I know in previous seasons they've done both, which seemed unneccessary. I know The Super League Show is networked, but only at 4am so most viewers outside the North have no idea it exists, no doubt.
When The Super League Show started, in 1999, it was on in primetime on BBC2 and it had to shuffle around all over the place. During Wimbledon it was on at 9pm and then for several weeks it was on Mondays at 7.30, moving Network East to Thursdays, and meaning Western Front, a networked show on WWI, was only shown in the North via its repeat on Saturdays. Every episode was a Choice in the Radio Times so they always had to say "Viewers in the North will see Network East and can see Western Front on Saturday". Then when it got to the play-offs there were no available slots so they ended up cramming it in twenty minutes, replacing The Ren and Stimpy Show. I seem to remember it originally wasn't billed in the Radio Times that season.
On a rugby league tip, I remember in the eighties the draw for the Challenge Cup would be done on Thursdays at 6.55, and shown after North West Tonight and Look North. It always used to surprise me, because it was never billed in the Radio Times, always fronted by Look North people I'd never seen in the North West and I didn't even know what sport they were talking about. It just used to appear after North West Tonight had finished. And I always used to be worried that it would run into Top of the Pops.
The Eddie Waring documentary on BBC4 the other week was a BBC Leeds production.
Talking of the Super League - why did they drop The Super League Show format for the highlights of the last few games, which got a national daytime airing?

What I was thinking more was, why don't they have The Super League Show instead of networked highlights. They run it all season then drop it for the most important games at the end, replacing it with far more basic presentation

There's certainly an argument that live matches should be "Superleague Show Live" branded, like MOTD live for live football. But it's probably a lines of demarcation thing between BBC Sport and BBC English Regions.

However at the season end - the play off's - the live matches are on Sky, with highlights on the BBC. ie the same as the regular season but with national coverage and presentation.
The live matches that the BBC show are from the Challenge Cup - so the Super League show branding would not be relevant and frankly misleading
