Kind of on-topic - Chris Moyles and Andi Peters try and find the broom cupboard in TV Centre

This part 2 but there's not much to see in part 1!
As most of us know it's not there anymore so there isn't a great deal to see in part 2 either but it shows what became of the old presentation area...

After the demise of the Broomcupboard there was still an in-vision self-op facility for CBBC, in one corner of Pres A

The idea was that this mixer was available to NC1 (and presumably NC2) so that they could do the birthdays without having to staff the Pres A gallery.

All Testcard music was off 1/4" tape AIUI. There is also a rack of 1/4" Carts visible in most of the photos/footage I've seen of Con, was this for Interval music (I.e. individual tracks played between programmes while on "Follows Shortly" slides) ? I believe the Grams deck had the National Anthem on it too...

By the time the NTA opened, Breakdown music was off CD (I think) and Ceefax music was off MiniDisc.

Looks like the anthem may have been played from cart, although I think there's a bit of artistic license here as the clock never stayed on screen that far into the anthem.

TV Ark have added a new clip showing what happens when the Con desk developed a fault, demonstrating how flexible the old pres areas were with a way of working around most faults.
