Apart from the fake presents at the bottom, Look North's looks rather nice; not too OTT:

As far as I am aware Granada Reports has no tree or decorations so far, but North West Tonight has put up a tree in it's sofa area, but this is only seen at the end of the programme when Tina Bangs presents a special report about people's weird Christmas Traditions or something like that.

Ignore the Christmas appendages - that set is VILE .
Bearing in mind it is very similar to the BBC News studio (bright red walls, white desk, wooden floor) what is it you don't like?
You seem to be insinuating that just because it's a poor imitation of the BBC NEWS studios that I should automatically like it. I'm not head over heels in love with the National studio which the Calendar set most closely approximates, so I feel no real need to show my affection for that of Calendar.
My main issue with it is that it does look like a very poor imitation of the BBC NEWS set. There seems to be no theme to it at all. We have a screen/surround that looks like it's been recycled from Dr Who , combined with the very worst of BBC NEWS and ITV News. It also amuses me that people liken the new BBC NEWS desks to deep freezers - the Calendar desk was clearly stolen from Kwik Save and dumped on the set. And that 'CALENDAR' logo on the front of the freezer in bright blue/aquamarine... stunning.

Calendar is VILE.
Now don't be too polite
.
A little off topic - Fliking through the Radio Times (YTV&TTTV are both covered in the issue I get) the YTV Programmes look very poor, especially all the antiques show, including a quiz hosted by Richard Whitely. Ugh.
