Why is there two episodes tonight?

First one is ore recorded 6 month ago

Actually, they were recorded in June/early July, I was a Stand In contestant on the programme. Also I don't think they're going live this series judging by the way it was recorded.

Yeah your right because the don't play out the little black and white bars to let the broadcaster know when to go to adverts, can I ask aren't the second shows after the x factor live?

It was recorded in 2 blocks, for a few weeks they filmed all the games in the Red Or Black arena (which doesn't really exist) and then they reconfigured the same studio or shall I say 'Stage' to the traditional studio set up. (I.e. with the audience and musical acts) I got the opportunity to sit in the audience for a record and everything was filmed then and there. To be honest I'm not surprised, trust me it takes *AGES* to set up the games.

Won't be watching - but then I don't think I watch anything on ITV apart possibly from Lewis if I bump into it in the schedules. Used to love TV Burp.

Absolutely terrible decision to allow Wonga (loans with representative APRs of 4124% - which some would describe as 'legal loan shark' territory) to sponsor a show based around a gambling theme. Seriously terrible.

Amazed Ant and Dec and their people allow them to be associated with this.

Watched one episode of the first series to see if it was as bad as people said - and it confirmed it was. Sure they'll have re-engineered it - but don't want to give Wonga a second of my viewing.

Yes, I don't really have a problem with Wonga as a company. Their APR is high but it's not really relevant as they only do short term loans. Also they are very open over how much you have to pay back.

However I do think their sponsorship of a big money gameshow (it's not and never has been gambling) is a bit irresponsible especially as Red Or Black has a high aspirational aspect to it.

I don't really know how all this stuff works but isn't the whole point that if you took out a 30 day loan but then didn't repay it for a year, you would end up owing 4212% because they add the interest on? Obviously they don't "offer" a year long loan at 4212% - but if you didn't pay it back in time that's still how much you'd owe?

I suppose so, a better question is what they do to get back the debt after that 30 days? Can you have a loan with them for a year or do they recoup the debt another way?

Why is there two episodes tonight?

Because they are desperately, desprately trying to make it a hit and therefore shoehorning it around The X Factor. And the result is... it was beaten by Indiana Jones. Well done everyone.

Also - did it drag X Factor's ratings down? X Factor was apparently 2m down on last year's opening episode... Is this talent-show fatigue, good weather (let's have a BBQ instead of watching the telly) or bad scheduling do you think?

X Factor had 8m viewers and a 42% share (plus an extra 700k on +1). Last year had 10.8m and a 46% share, with another 500k on +1, so it just seems like there were less people watching TV last night. It will grow over the series, it always does (apart from last year where it started higher than ever but fell).

X Factor has always started about the 3rd week in August (apart from the first series which was in September), it's the live shows that start in October.

The X factor launch is down 10 share points on 2010 and 7 on 2011. The weather doesn't effect really effect share.

2012 8.09m (39.4%) 616k (2.9%) on +1.
2011 10.8m (45.7%) 504k on ITV1 +1
2010 11.3m (48.6%) No +1

the 42% share includes +1. It had 39% without it.

Decline similar to the later stages of last years series. Though those figures for Red or Black are the real problem here. A 19% share for an V expensive Ant and Dec fronted show with a huge prize pot is nothing short of humilating.
