I believe a modern day 'Beadles About' could actually work, of course it would mean that Ant and dec would only appear at the very end, I would still like Ant and dec maybe every so still do some windup as them in the main factors. Of course some of Beadles work never worked but most of the time he was good at it.
The question has to be Why did the following never get off the ground?
* Pokerface
* Duel
* Shafted
Is Red or black getting move viewers as it being placed after X factor?
You missed one out - a gmeshow I thoroughly enjoyed although only on every now and again and it was Russian Roulette!
(and Mark Radcliffe on 6Music thinks it's tedious)
David
Why do you say wrong reasons? Simon Cowell has got this boring programme mentioned on BBC News and apparently on 6Music. The man is an arse, his programmes are **** but you can't fault his ability for self promotion.
As usual a bigger story within the press than amongst the public. And these tabloids wanting this bloke stripped of his winnings are the same people who lapped up every little detail of Cheryl Cole's involvement with The X Factor.
Two people have been removed from the show because of their backgrounds, one of whom was due to be in tonights show. Simon has called a press conference for tomorrow to explain the issue. It doesn't really need commenting on but I bet he's lapping up the opportunity for a bit of promotion.
Takes the heat off the ratings I suppose - but the fact is these two have simply been bullied out of the show by the press. If the gameshow is open to all on application then it's open to all. ITV and Syco have thankfully been brave enough to acknowledge you can't change the rules once the prize is won, although I wouldn't be surprised if the two contestants kicked out take action against their dismissal.

There is probably some clause which says "if we change our mind we can take you out of the show" but I'd argue they should at-least get their costs of taking part and any loss of earnings back.
Red & Black has been disaster full stop, more so if everyone else wins a million, if no one else wins it wont be so bad however.
This could be the year Simon Cowell gets 'found out' if X Factor USA flops, that's his US career damaged as he wont be allowed back to Idol and it's too early too call this years X Factor.
Simon doesn't really have the presence or the power that he has over here so if X Factor fails to take off, other than crowbarring himself into America's Got Talent, it will be quite hard for him to regain any kind of status in the US.
As far as returning to the UK goes, X Factor UK is going well so far and the ratings have managed to increase on last year whilst the reception seems quite positive. I'm not sure he'll be willing to mess with that. I do think he's likely to be back on Britain's Got Talent to keep his UK presence. Last years was flagging and David isn't returning so I could see him rejoining the panel, maybe even adding Cheryl Cole as a fourth judge.

Indeed. What I don't understand is what exactly is the problem with someone who's been convicted of a crime and has been released from jail? I know that some programmes have that as a restriction on entering, but why?
The fact is that even if Red or Black had a rule about those with criminal records entering, the chap who won on Saturday did declare it
Nearly every contestant application I've ever seen asks you to declare any criminal convictions. While they don't say this will preclude your participation, you can assume it would stand against you in a selection process.
Failure to disclose would be a reasonable reason to have you kicked off the contestant list - but you can't take the money off someone who's been upfront about it, and served their time.
Similar stories have been splashed about convicted benefits cheats winning the lottery.
Presumably the reason they do ask is to prevent exactly this type of negative press.
