Yep so the BBC channels' announcers and directors no longer work for the BBC. I'll leave it up to you to decide whether this seems like a good idea.

* That's except for viewers in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland who have their own BBC channel director/announcers at this time.

perhaps some sort of subtle reference to the 'fins' on the side of the Broadcast Centre?

I'm sure there'll be a press release to explain everything.

Yes!

Press release posted:
The distinctive logo ... includes horizontal bars which reference graphic equalisers, mobile phone strength bars and even the Broadcast centre architecture.

Does that mean Pam Masters' job title changes to "Queen Bee"?

Except the "fins" in the Broadcast Centre are vertical. Which reference prison bars, and other things which are vertical.

Well what do you think?

And how do we know that Red Bee will (editorially) keep their noses out of what appears on screen?

Because they're a service provider, who won't want to upset, and potentially lose, their clients.

The justification for the Red Been name is classic crap:

Quote:
Creative consultants Antidote, working with Red Bee’s in-house design team, said they chose the name to reflect the company's roots and its breadth of services. Red has always been Broadcast’s corporate colour and ‘Bee’ was chosen because they are one of nature’s expert navigators.

Pam Masters, CEO of Red Bee Media, said that Red Bee Media's aim was to help the consumer become 'equally adept as navigators'.

‘All our services bring stories and people together – whether it be a news story on BBC World, a promotion on UKTV Food for Ready Steady Cook, delivering last week’s episode of EastEnders over broadband on the interactive media player, or the latest football highlights to a 3G mobile,’ she said.

'We wanted to find a simple human expression of what we stand for. We recognised that everything we do across the company is ultimately about stories.'

BBC Broadcast, which was formerly known as Broadcasting and Presentation (B&P), was incorporated into a commercial subsidiary of the BBC in April 2002.

Hey, Mr Storyteller. Tell us a story. Can we have the one about the woman who wasted millions on crap automation systems and got away with it? That's one of my favourites......
