not Westlife?

No, it's definatly going to be McFly. I'd put my house on it- if I owned a house. Westlife are old hat with the teeny bopper girls, McFly are who they all have crushes on at the moment.

Thank god you don't own a house or you'd be selling the Big Issue tommorow!

The whole show seems a bit pointless to me really... there is no kind of build up or anything.

It is because the same type of people win year in year out. Its almost always a boyband, and often a cover song (Mandy, You Raise me Up). I think they should ban cover songs from entering afterall this is supposed to be the RECORD OF THE YEAR not cover of the year.

Especially considering this year it was the exact same format - cover single by Westlife released late 2005 (October/November) in which they only stand up after the key change...

Didn't know it was a cover version. Although not a fan of Westlife I quite liked that song!

And at 31, I can hardly be called a teenybop. Wink

Normally Westlife can only do covers. It's where their "talent" lies. BTW since the karaoke group started, does anyone know if Westlife have actually released any of their own songs as singles?

Does anybody know how many people watched the Record Of The Year? It's only voted for by the cd:uk and TOTP crowd so it shouldn't be taken to seriously. And the fact that Tony Christie wasn't in there says it all.

I think they said it had been done by something like over 100 different artists!

Awful song too - so so slow! From the bit on the ads it's not too bad, but you fall in a coma before you get to the key change moment!

Swear It Again (1999)
If let You Go (1999)
Flying Without Wings (1999)
Fool Again (2000)
My Love (2000)
What Makes a Man (2000)
Queen of my Heart (2001)
Bop Bop Baby" (2002)
Unbreakable (2002)
Hey Whatever (2003)
Obvious (2004)

Which outnumbers their cover versions.

I saw this and just thought it was all pointless. Surely there will always be more teen girls casting votes than anyone else! I would've liked to have seen a band like Kaiser Chiefs in there but I was disappointed. I think they should scrap the regional system and possibly keep it to voting by phonecall.
