No, it's definatly going to be McFly. I'd put my house on it- if I owned a house. Westlife are old hat with the teeny bopper girls, McFly are who they all have crushes on at the moment.
Thank god you don't own a house or you'd be selling the Big Issue tommorow!
It was closer than I thought, as well as McFly and the annoying Westlife, The Black Eyed Peas were well in the running as well

The whole show seems a bit pointless to me really... there is no kind of build up or anything.
It is because the same type of people win year in year out. Its almost always a boyband, and often a cover song (Mandy, You Raise me Up). I think they should ban cover songs from entering afterall this is supposed to be the RECORD OF THE YEAR not cover of the year.
It isnt the same now they have merged most of the regional voting - I mean Granada/Border/Yorkshire and Tyne Tees all together have as much say as Anglia (East England)

Especially considering this year it was the exact same format - cover single by Westlife released late 2005 (October/November) in which they only stand up after the key change...

Sure this has been mentioned before, but if Amarillo is ruled out as it's a charity record, the same should have applied to McFly!
No surprise with the winner - and when it looked like the (awful) Black Eyed Peas song was heading to the top I actually found myself releived Westlife won.
I liked the changes to the set and presentation - very nice compared to the same stage arrangement of the last few years. Also Vernon Kay was a far better host than Cat Deeley.
The regional voting thing now needs to be scrapped though. While the different in the size of the NI, Wales and Scotland voted is negligible, England were really under-represented being divided into just 4 groups.
If your not going to do the regions properly - don't bother! Just do a Stars in their Eyes style number of votes for each song.

Utter crap as usual. There have been some really great songs otu this year as well & soem artists that deserved it alot more than Westlife including:
Stereophonics
Gorillaz
Kaiser Cheifs
New Order
Mylo
Bloc Party
Keane
The Killers
Basement Jaxx
Chemical Brothers
Franz Ferdinand
Coldplay
Oasis (not that keen in them anymore although I would have prefered them over sh*telife)
and others I can't think of at the mo
But then again that's my music taste
afterall it is teenage girls that vote in this "music" show

The voting system has become a complete mess. As pointed out, England is under-represented. The texting system of "be honest and tell us where you really live" is madness - people in London would have to be completely stupid not to claim they were voting from Scotland or Northern Ireland. That might explain the odd appearance of the Black Eyed Peas at the top of many regions - teenage girls, who are very wise when it comes to their mobiles, will probably have clocked the fact they could put NI in and their votes would count for much more.

Indeed did seem a bit strange, especially as McFly have had numerous hits this year, they could easilly have picked another one to use
He was less over excited giggly not really sure whats going on than Cat used to be, plus Vernon is apparantly the next big thing
It wouldn't have the same tension though if they just did the number of votes, you'd just get Westlife getting a very high number and everyone else much lower
