Just had a little thought this afternoon that ROTY hasn't been advertised and not arrived on our screens yet! Taking into account we're coming into mid-November now, and itv.com/record is displaying 2004 information, is the show going to be making a return this year?

Doubt anyone else would notice.

All I know is that Record of the Year 2005 is gonna happen. Vernon Kay is taking over from Cat Deeley as the host this year.

Plans are being made, they've already banned Crazy Frog from the show because they want it to be more upmarket.

Mid November? It's the 6th!
I'm sure there is enough time yet for it to be announced.

With Westlife just getting their 300th number 1, my fear is they will win it again for about the 4th time!

Its a bit early for Record of the year yet - there are still 8 weeks of 2005 left! Id expect the preview programmes to air in early December and then the actual programme to air in Mid December

Sorry, the words ROTY and Up-Market, bit like ITV and Biggest Sucess.

Just sounds funny...

Not the only place it's been banned from. I've never heard it on the radio outside of Chart programming, and the Number One marathons on both VH1 & TMF have skipped over it as if it doesn't exist. At least some people are sane, but whenever I'm out and it comes on, I want to rip my hair out! At least it's one of things we'll be looking back at in a very short period of time, and the insane minority that liked in the the first place will wonder why they ever did.

Along with Crazy Frog, I read that Tony Christie's Amarillo has also been banned from being included on the basis that it is a charity record.

Indeed, Crazy Frog has been banned because its quite obviously advertising for Jamster and Amarillo and McFly's All About You have been banned because they were for Comic Relief

What a shame Wusslife didn't do a charity song this year, so they could be banned as well!

I remember last year that ROTY tried to change tack by including a number of album tracks and songs that did better on airplay than in terms of chart peak, rather than the biggest selling singles of the year, such as Katie Melua's "Closest Thing To Crazy" being included despite only reaching Number 10 in the charts.

Oh well, at least Busted have no chance this year, and if there's no McFly, what are the teeny girls going to vote for instead... Waste-life?
