Have any stations used true local presenters, at all, since around 1999? I didn't bother to watch this bobbins, given how removed it is from the multitude of real talent out there, but in the last few years it has become obvious that the "regional" results are a sham, not locally-based in the slightest (as has been said Channel last year (or was it the year before, I don't recall) got more votes than there are people on the Islands lol) and the presenters aren't employed by the regional companies. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the votes aren't even regionalised on the phone exchange.

The whole thing is garbage. Take 20 hyped-up kiddie songs as put forward by the major record labels (with one or two semi-credible tracks to throw people off the scent), make a packet from phone votes which mean very little in any case and stick it in the Pop Idol slot so guaranteeing a massive child audience. Sad.

[quote="ohwhatanight"]So who was this GILES guy for ITV1 London?

Im sure he was either off an episode of Blind Date and/or that sexual gameshow set in Marbella in Spain with Julian Clary and Denise Van Outen presenting it - oh what the hell was it called?!?!?!

{Hand up} I know! I know! It was Prickly Heat on Sky One.
