OK, I'm fed up of analogue satellite, and now the time has come to get digital.

Which is best? On Digital (Soon to be ITV Digital) - or -

Sky Digital - I understand with the family option I get 11 'free' channels, could anyone please tell me what they are?

Thanks...

Get Sky Digital and ask for a Sony or Panasonic box!

Pace will also do the trick and is normally the first to get software updates from Sky.

Just a note, the BBC channels are not totally FTA.
You will need a BBC Card to view them if you don't pay a Sky fee.

Anyone catch the 56-second N24 countdown only shown on the BBC One crossover at 3am last night? If not, you may well see it tonight as the channel is due to finish at 0155 and it would be daft to show a weather bulletin after...the BBC One weather bulletin so who knows!

Personally, I don't understand why they don't show more of the ident. If, for example, a report on N24 is finishing in 50 seconds, why go to the BBC One ident for 10 seconds with announcement, then 40 seconds (at which point the titles stop) of N24? Surely 32 seconds of ident and 18 of titles would be far better Smile

Cheers, Asa

I got the 56 second countdown last night (i leave the VCR to record overnight), and the headlines were about one second late coming in from the countdown.

I notice the new BBC News 24 logo at the bottom of the screen now, how long has that been there?

The logo at the bottom is only on the BBC One version of the countdown - not on the News 24 one.

Erm, I said 'FTV' (Free to View), not 'FTA' (Free to Air).

And, Mr Voiceover: beware that, for the £40/£20 install fee, you have to subscribe to a Sky package for 12 months - only after 12 months can you not pay them anything and enjoy the channels I listed free.
