We've seen over the past 4 years, channels rebrand from a successful package to a really dull and pointless one. We've seen channels going from CGI to slap logo on video.
Why has changing a channel's look become so uninspired and boring nowdays?
IMO, The only successful and consistent package in the UK is Channel 4.

Well, some rebrands have been quite successful, and obviously some unsuccessful. For example, the STV rebrand went quite well, IMO. As did the entire ITV rebrand.
Channel 4's was worth it. But, again IMO, five's was pointless.

Five's idents themselves are quite good but the fact that they don't have the channel name as the logo kind of spoils the set. It would have worked if the word on each ident morphed into the five logo but unfortunately they chose not to.
The ITV rebrand a year ago was pointless - the idents were far worse than the previous set. Im not surprised they lasted less than a year. The current set we have are better but still boring.

well first CH4 ideant were perfect, and the current one are great as well
But the five, ITV,BBC one I have no idea about what do there stand for, and why can;t there last for couple of years.... at least 4 I woudl expect!
One thing's clear is that an actual symbol (channel 4) is more effective than plain writing
Take the ITV regions, ATV, TVS, TSW*, Thames, LWT, Central, Granada, Yorkshire, etc. all had memorable logos of which the ex franchises are still memorable.
* I admit although I do remember TSW's I haven't the foggiest where from seeing as they very very rarely mad enetworked programmes
How come the word
"rebrand"
always seems to be used, when it doesn't always apply? An actual channel rebrand
would be when it's given a new name. BBC One, recently got some fresh new graphics and idents, but the name of
the channel was never changed, therefore it was not rebranded. The nearest the BBC's primary TV channel has
got to a rebrand in recent years, was when they dropped the number "1", in favour of the word "ONE".
